Project: ‘Hurst’, Bickleigh Vale, Mooroolbark (2012)
Coleman Architects were engaged to prepare a design proposal for extensive additions to ‘Hurst’, a small timber cottage in the residential estate, Bickleigh Vale, designed and built by noted landscape designer Edna Walling, in the 1930s. The entire estate is now included on the Victorian Heritage Register. The addition was designed to reflect the scale and form of the cottage and other nearby houses designed by Walling, and importantly, to be accommodated in the existing landscape without impacting on the significant trees and large shrubs in the established garden.
